Aqueous Inks

Aqueous (water-based) inks offer sharp printing, high gloss, durable adhesion, water resistance, and exceedingly low VOC levels. Unlike soy inks, water-based inks are flexible and do not crack or flake when folded.

In bag making, a seal formed by heat-pressing two overlapping layers of thermoplastic material.

Biodegradable

Capable of decomposing under natural conditions. In certain states, the term "biodegradable" legally applies only to products which meet the ASTM D 6400 standard.

Bioplastics

Plastics manufactured from resins derived from renewable resources such as corn or potato starch, and hemp or soybean oil rather than petroleum. They are sustainable and biodegradable, but have different performance characteristics than traditional petroleum-based materials. One of the more common bioplastics is Polylactic Acid (PLA), derived from corn starch.

Bleed

Artwork which extends beyond the trim area. This acts as a buffer, allowing for natural variations in cutting and processing.
